Race and Rally is a motorsport parts and safety equipment retailer at 16 Longstone Street, Lisburn, Northern Ireland, founded in 2006. Alongside car parts, it stocks the racewear crews need to pass scrutineering. This page covers the personal kit: what to check before 2027, and which items make good Christmas presents.

Start with the homologation label

Most championships require personal safety kit to carry a current FIA or equivalent standard, and some labels have dates on them. Over the winter, lay everything out (suit, underwear, boots, gloves, helmet and head restraint) and check each label against your 2027 regulations. Replace anything that has expired, is damaged or doesn't fit.

The kit, item by item

Race suits

A fire-resistant suit is the base layer of your protection. Check the seams, the cuffs and the arm length, which matters for co-drivers who need to reach the pace notes. Browse the race suits or the full racewear range.

Underwear

A suit is designed to be worn over approved fire-resistant underwear, a balaclava and socks. See the FIA underwear collection.

Boots

Thin soles give pedal feel, and approved boots resist heat. If the soles have worn smooth or the stitching has split, replace them from the race shoes range.

Gloves

Drivers want grip and feel on the wheel. Co-drivers often prefer a thinner glove for turning pages. See the race gloves.

Helmets

Choose a closed-face rally helmet with intercom wiring, or browse all race helmets. Add visors and spares from helmet accessories; intercoms are in the same range.

FHR / head and neck restraints

A frontal head restraint has to match your helmet posts and your seat angle. See HANS devices.
